Introduction To 22204-22010 Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor

The 22204-22010 is a premium 5-pin drop-in Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. It features an integrated intake air temperature (IAT) thermistor. As a widely deployed air metering component, this sensor serves as a direct-fit replacement. It is interchangeable with part numbers 22204-22010, 22204-0C020, 22204-0D030, 22204-0J010, 22204-30010, and 22204-21010. It also cross-references numbers 197400-2000 and 197400-2030.
This sensor is widely used across extensive vehicle lineups. These include for Toyota Camry (2.4L / 3.0L / 3.3L), for Toyota Corolla (1.8L 1ZZ-FE), for Toyota RAV4, and for Toyota Tacoma (2.7L / 3.4L / 4.0L). It is also compatible with for Toyota 4Runner, for Toyota Highlander, for Lexus ES300 / ES330 / RX300 / RX330, for Scion tC / xB, and for Pontiac Vibe.
Manufactured under strict IATF 16949 quality guidelines, this sensor features a micro-machined hot-wire/hot-film sensing bypass element. It is coupled with an external amber glass-encapsulated NTC thermistor bead. By measuring instantaneous intake air mass and temperature simultaneously, the sensor delivers high-precision linear analog voltage signals (0.5V to 4.5V DC) directly to the Engine Control Module (ECM). This enables precise closed-loop air-fuel ratio modulation, optimized fuel injection pulse width, and ignition timing control.
For auto parts importers, wholesale distributors, and repair facilities, this unit effectively resolves persistent lean fault codes (P0171 / P0174). It also cures rough idling, engine hesitation, and cold-start stalling.

Professional Installation Guidelines

- Safety Preparation: Turn off the vehicle ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal before servicing the intake system.
- Locate the Sensor: Find the 22204-22010 drop-in probe inserted into the air filter box lid or the upper intake air duct.
- Disconnect Harness: Depress the center locking tab on the 5-pin electrical connector and carefully pull to disconnect.
- Remove Fasteners: Use a Phillips screwdriver or 7mm socket to remove the two mounting screws. Gently twist and pull the sensor straight out.
- Inspect & Clean Housing: Wipe clean the mounting surface on the intake tube. Ensure the new Viton O-ring is properly seated in the groove of the new 22204-22010 sensor and lightly lubricated.
- Install New Sensor: Insert the new sensor probe straight into the mounting hole. Reinstall the two screws and hand-tighten firmly (do not over-torque into plastic).
- Reconnect & ECM Reset: Push the 5-pin harness connector firmly until the lock clicks. Reconnect the battery terminal, start the engine, allow it to idle for 5–10 minutes to relearn idle fuel trim parameters, and clear any historical OBD codes using a diagnostic scan tool.

FAQ
Q1: Why is the 22204-22010 sensor the primary culprit behind Lean Codes P0171 and P0174 on for Toyota and for Lexus vehicles?
The 22204-22010 uses hot wires in its bypass passage. Over time, dust, oil vapors, and soot coat them, acting as insulation. The wires cannot cool efficiently, so the sensor falsely reports low airflow to the ECU. The ECU then injects less fuel, causing a lean mixture and DTCs P0171/P0174. Our new, pre-calibrated replacement instantly restores correct fuel trim.
Q2: Why is 22204-22010 known as the "universal drop-in MAF probe" across for Toyota and for Lexus platforms?
Older MAF sensors were built into bulky housings. The 22204-22010 introduced a modular “drop-in probe” secured by two screws into the air duct. This probe calibrates across many engine sizes, from 1.5L 4-cylinders to 4.7L V8s. It is now one of the highest-volume, fast-moving replacement parts in the global aftermarket.
Q3: What is the visible amber/brown glass bead located on the side of the 22204-22010 sensor probe?
The amber glass-encapsulated bead on the side of the probe is the integrated Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor (a negative temperature coefficient / NTC thermistor). While the internal hot-wire elements hidden inside the central airflow tunnel measure intake air volume mass, this external thermistor bead measures incoming air temperature.
Q4: What wholesale order terms, MOQs, packaging options, and B2B warranty are provided for global importers?
Flexible MOQ: Minimum order starting from 10 units
Custom Packaging: Neutral white/brown boxes, or customized full-color private-label branded boxes (such as YZHIDIANF) .
Laser Marking: Custom laser engraving of your company logo, part number.
Quality Assurance: airflow bench calibration backed by a comprehensive 12-month warranty.
