Drive-by-Wire Electronic Throttle Position Precision
In modern drive-by-wire (DBW) engine management systems, the 18919-AM810 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor serves as the vital link between driver throttle input and electronic throttle body operation. As the pedal is depressed, internal contact brushes sweep along dual resistance tracks, generating two independent voltage curves (Signal 1 & Signal 2). The engine control module (ECM) continuously monitors both signals for consistency.
When aging or worn sensors develop dead spots or resistance drift, signal correlation fails, triggering immediate check engine illumination and forcing the engine into a protective limp-in / fail-safe mode (limiting RPM to ~2,000–2,500 RPM).
